CREATION IN THE MIND
This week, our Resilience Focus is the Creator Sister. How best can we utilize her energy and bring her gifts into our lives?
How best can we embody the Creator in our own minds?
It can sometimes feel overwhelming and entirely too intimidating to pursue creation in physical ways. What if we simply don’t know how to embody a creator? Burnout, anxiety, illness, pressure from society, the desire for perfection in our creations—these can all block us from embodying and engaging with the Creator in healing and playful ways. This can then bring up feelings of regret and panic when we worry that we might not be doing creation “right,” or that we might be missing our chance to be “good” creators.
So, where can we focus instead? Where can we start creating when creation seems impossible?
IN OUR MINDS.
Here’s the thing: every moment you are conscious and alive, your mind is creating. It is creating thought patterns, new ideas, connections, solutions (and problems!), assumptions, and new understandings. As you can imagine, this can be a wonderful, glorious, magical thing. But it can also be difficult and exhausting if we neglect paying attention to what we’re creating and forget to consciously work to create what is healthy and healing within our own minds.
SO, OBSERVE WHAT YOUR MIND CREATES.
This week, pay attention to all that your mind is creating. If you can, gently take a step back from your thoughts themselves and perhaps ask: What is this thought creation bringing along with it?
Does this thought creation make me feel safe?
Does this thought creation remind me that I am human and allowed to make mistakes?
Does this thought creation bring me closer to loving myself or others?
Is this thought creation a new thought or a continuation of a thought loop I’ve cycled through before?
Does this thought creation attempt to control things in my life that may ultimately be out of my control?
Do my thoughts reflect the understanding that all things change and a thought is not meant to trap me or stay the same forever?
NOW, GIVE YOUR MIND A GIFT.
Take a deep breath.
Let this breath fill your body with forgiveness and warmth.
Now, create an affirmation for yourself. Your affirmation can be as simple as “I am worthy” or as complex as you’d like. It can relate to any area of your life and encompass as little or as much as feels comfortable.
LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE CREATED!
Remember this affirmation as you go about your life. Any creation is made to be used. So, use this one to heal and nourish what needs your creative mind and forgiving heart.
